What to expect

How do we deal with the weather, animals, and other scary things?

Rather than just a boring safety talk about things like bears, lightning, water safety and other dangers, this module is all about letting fun replace fear.  We begin by teaching some of the tracks they may find on local hikes and walks then we transition into what to do if we see the animals who made the tracks.  A similar approach is taken to introduce solutions to many of the most common outdoor fears and how to deal with them.  All of this is presented in the form of games and stories designed to not only hold young adventurers’ interests, but to help adventurers discover the best ways to overcome fears and concerns that are common to adults and children alike.

Who is it for

Many parents and adventurers like to take notes during this one, but we did not want the younger kids to miss out.  You will be emailed the full outline and notes after the class.  This makes the day enjoyable for any kids age 3 and up.  The skills are good for even adults.  The games are meant to keep the interest of ages 14 and younger, but they help adventurers of all ages memorize these important concepts.
